Moma
(1929)
museum
of modern art - New York City (US)
Thought in 1920, the Museum of modern art Moma was opened in 1929 as a
profit-free institution with educational purposes in the field of contemporary and
modern art.
The museum Moma affirms that modern and contemporary art must be limited
to supporting and expressing those ideals that were generated in the artistic movements
that took place towards the end of 1800. It must not therefore expand or develop
popular national traditions of any kind. On condition that these limits are accepted
the museum is prepared to commit itself to show arguments between artistic tendencies
which are in contrast with one another; these can take place through exhibitions and
installation by different authors in some museum’s spaces..
The museum commit itself to respect its initial proposals based on which it is fundamental
to sustain the importance of contemporary art and to try and adopt an open position towards
changes and evolutions.
The museum Moma aims to provide its studying public with information about new
emerging artistic movements, nevertheless without transcending its main aim which
consist on obtaining the best works of contemporary and modern art that there are in
the world.
