The museum includes a design resource centre, a study centre, a study room for American Art, and other activity spaces.
With more than two hundreds and fifty thousands objects, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is one of the largest collection of design in the world. Its items are related to the period starting from the Han Dynasty. They are organized in four departments: Applied Arts and Industrial Design, Drawings and Prints, Textiles, and Wallcoverings. The collected work is supported by design archives and a reference library with about sixty thousands books.
Being a centre for scholarly and applied research, the museum provides professional development and museum training to students through a graduate degree program.
Among the aims of the Cooper-Hewitt museum is that of providing professional visual study resources to those who are interested in studying design.
