Cam - Computer aided manufacturing

Cam

computer aided manufacturing

The word Cam stands for computer-aided manufacturing, a technological scheme that allows the production of artefacts through the interaction between computers using design software, and appropriate manufacturing machinery.

Cam systems use programmable tools that can be preset by direct input of data, and robots, automated machines capable of performing practical tasks.

The focal point of the interaction between Cad and Cam technology is the translation of the information for defining a form provided by the Cad software, into signals that Cam systems will use to produce physical objects.

The intervention of Cam technology can be successfully applied to the design process of a wide range of items among which are automobiles, lighting systems, digital cameras, suitcases, and much more.
