Cad - Computer aided design

Cad

computer aided design

The word Cad stands for computer-aided design or computer-aided drawing, a system that has been created for drawing every sort of mechanism using a computer. Among the most frequent applications of Cad is the drawing of three-dimensional models of products, maps, and plans of buildings.

The application of computer-aided design is fundamental in a wide range of professional fields among which are architecture, engineering, industrial design, and interior design. The use of Cad can also be successfully implemented in artisan product design.

In industrial product design the conceptual phase carried out by the use of Cad can be linked directly to manufacturing machinery which incorporates the technology of Cam (computer-aided manufacturing). Through the use of computer-aided manufacturing it is possible to achieve the complete production of many types of objects without employing human labour.

The official software for computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing is produced by the company Autodesk.
