Brief
description of the project's purposes and objectives
The brief is generally, although not strictly necessarily, the starting point of a project. When the creative process starts from a brief rather than a from casual inspirational output or other sources, a professional undertakes an interpretational work from which they will draw a preplanning of the project. Before that, it will be useful to have a brainstorming session.
A brief can be an expression of intentions of those who are commissioning a creation. The designers, or other professionals, will have to produce satisfactory interpretations. This often results in being one of the most creative phases of the design process.
