Algol - Mobile television apparatus produced by Brionvega

Algol - Brionvega

(1964)
television apparatus

The portable television apparatus Algol has been designed for the manufacturing company Brionvega by the designers Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper.

Characterised by a strong built, round lines, and small size it is very versatile and easy to transport. This set of characteristics influences both the way in which the article is used, and the configuration of the domestic spaces that hosts it. For example, for utilising Algol it is not necessary to use a specific piece of furniture on which to place the apparatus.

Thanks to these peculiarities and the beauty of its design Algol has become one of the most significant products of the Italian design, and is part of the permanent collection of the museum Moma of New York.

Marco Zanuso compared the look of Algol to that of small dog looking up at the person who owns it.

Some models of the television apparatus Algol have been produced an successfully placed on the market in 2001.
