Aeg is a German firm that specialises in electricity, telecommunication systems, water treatments and household electrical appliances. Its name is the acronym for Allgemeine Elektrizitats Gesellschaft that means General Electricity Company.

Founded in 1887 by Emil Rathenau in Berlin, it established itself in the market place with appropriate brand identity in 1907, when its trade mark was created by the designer Peter Behrens.

In 1967 Aeg merged with the firm Telefunken and originated the brand Aeg-Telefunken. In 2005 it was bought by the firm Electrolux that initiated the brand Aeg-Electrolux.
